Terms of Reference for paid internships in IOM Almaty
Position title: Intern – Media and Communications
Duty station: Almaty, Kazakhstan
Duration: 6 months
Closing Date: 30 November 2018
Overall Description:
Under the direct supervision of National Program Officer, the intern will contribute to the development and conceptualization of media and communications activities in the IOM Almaty office.
Specific Duties:
- Assist in IOM’s website management, social media marketing, search engine marketing/optimization;
- Assist in the promotion of communication tools: the Telegram Bot, the MigApp;
- Assist in production of information materials, press releases, and maintaining media relations.
- Assist in the development of IOM knowledge products, i.e. research publications, compendiums, resource books
Personal Development: The incumbent will acquire technical knowledge in the area of the media, communications and migration. The incumbent will in particular acquire or further develop his/her proficiency in digital communications and website development. The incumbent will gain in-situ experience in working in an international multi-cultural environment, with an intergovernmental organization and in a very dynamic and active team of colleagues.
Education and Experience:
A university degree, or equal experience in journalism, website management, communications, Migration or a related discipline. Experience in website management advantageous
Languages:
Required: English, Russian, and Kazakh is an advantage.
Relevant Information:
Working hours: 40 hours per week.
Travel cost is not covered by the organization.
