Context:

Under the overall supervision of the Chief of Mission (COM) and under the direct supervision of the National Admin/Finance Officer, the incumbent will provide driving services and maintain assigned vehicles for the country office.

Core Functions / Responsibilities:

  1. Manage day-to-day maintenance of the assigned vehicle to ensure roadworthiness of the vehicle. This includes daily check of tyres, brakes, engine oil, fan belt etc.
  2. Ensure that the vehicles are kept clean
  3. Ensure that the vehicles undertake regular service intervals
  4. Make sure that the vehicles always have full tank prior to departure for field trips
  5. Ensure that the IOM vehicles are used only for official/authorized business, as advised by the supervisor
  6. Make sure that the daily long sheet is prepared and a monthly report is prepared summarising statistics linked to mileage, fuel consumption etc. for the vehicles
  7. Keep a high degree of confidentiality and discreteness in discussions, which involves IOM’s activity, its officials and victims of trafficking
  8. Collect and deliver mail/documents/bills as assigned
  9. Ensure that the steps required by local rules and regulation are taken in case of involvement in accident
  10. In case of unusual circumstances/security emergencies the information should be brought to the attention of the COM and the Security Focal Point (SFP) immediately
  11. Perform other duties as may be assigned.

Required Qualifications and Experience

Education

Completed High School degree from an accredited academic institution

Experience

  • Minimum 7 years driving experience.
  • Holder of a valid driver’s license category B, C,D with clean driving record.
  • Knowledge of minor vehicle trouble shooting.
  • Knowledge of national traffic and vehicular regulations a must.
  • Knowledge of city and national  routes an advantage.
  • Previous work experience in international organizations and companies would be an advantage
  • Knowledge with Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook or email.
